Adopt a Highway Program

We are currently recruiting volunteers to see if we have enough interest to support our participation in this program. The association would need to commit to picking up litter twice per year. Our first pickup would be late September to Early October. We would select a Saturday or Sunday. The county would put up two signs that recognizes TLA efforts and would be erected after the first time pick up.

If you have interest, please send an email to Steve Holmberg at steve.holmberg@yahoo.com. Include your first and last name, how many volunteers from your household will participate and a phone number. Thank you for your interest in this - it will help get the TLA name out there and beautify our area.

Healthy Lakes Program

Itasca Collation of Lakes Associations (ICOLA) sponsored this program.. This program builds the capacity of citizen leaders to develop and implement lake or river management plans. This survey was taken by TLA members in the fall of 2001. The results of the poll are listed below:

What members of the association liked about Trout Lake

  1. Wildlife near the lake

  2. Peace & Quiet

  3. Overall Recreation

What members of the association liked, but needed improvement:

  1. Fishing (lack of catching)

  2. Water Quality

  3. Natural Shoreline Quality

What members of the association Disliked:

  1. Golf Course cooperation and Longyear Settling Pond

  2. Water discharge - Trout Creek flowage

  3. Zoning Enforcement

Looking over the list of almost 25 years ago, many of the issues still remain.

Lake Management Plan -
