Adopt a Highway Program
The Trout Lake Association is considering joining the Itasca County Adopt-a-Highway program, which aims to keep our community clean by organizing regular litter pickups. We are currently recruiting volunteers to see if we have enough interest to support our participation in this program.
The association would need to commit to picking up litter on an approximate 2 mile stretch of a county road twice per year, with our first pickup scheduled for the spring. We would select a Saturday or Sunday for this event. After our initial pickup, the county will place two signs on the roadway recognizing TLA’s efforts.
To volunteer, please email Steve Holmberg at steve.holmberg@yahoo.com with:
1. Your first and last name
2. The number of volunteers from your household or neighbors
3. Your phone number
Your involvement will make a real difference in our community! We hope you’ll join us in making the Trout Lake area a cleaner, more beautiful place for everyone. In addition, it will raise awareness for our organization, and hopefully attract some new members.
Healthy Lakes Program
Itasca Collation of Lakes Associations (ICOLA) sponsored this program.. This program builds the capacity of citizen leaders to develop and implement lake or river management plans. This survey was taken by TLA members in the fall of 2001. The results of the poll are listed below:
What members of the association liked about Trout Lake
Wildlife near the lake
Peace & Quiet
Overall Recreation
What members of the association liked, but needed improvement:
Fishing (lack of catching)
Water Quality
Natural Shoreline Quality
What members of the association Disliked:
Golf Course cooperation and Longyear Settling Pond
Water discharge - Trout Creek flowage
Zoning Enforcement
Looking over the list of almost 25 years ago, many of the issues still remain.
Lake Management Plan -
